Fiji Fashion Runway is scheduled to present its inaugural runway showcase at the prestigious San Francisco City Hall on August 13th, 2022. Donnalesi Vaubula the Executive Producer and Fiji native will be presenting twelve designers from the Fiji Islands, Tonga, Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, and the Philippines for her first production of Fiji Fashion Runway 2022 sponsored by Rum Co. of Fiji. “Our job at Fiji Fashion Runway is creating direct links between the American consumer “buyer”, and the designer, “explains Donnalesi Vaubula. “We provide a platform that helps give them a voice and pushes them to another level.” The show will venture into a three-part program with Cocktails and Hors D'oeuvres at 6.00 pm, Fiji Fashion Runway show at 7.00 pm, and the After Party from 9.00 pm to 11.00 pm. EMERGING DESIGNERS Emerging Designers are the dreamers and the doers. They are fresh off the runway, putting their dreams into action. Vaubula Supply Vaubula Supply was a small startup during covid19 that now ships products to their clients worldwide. This year, team Vaubula is starting a new resort wear line and supplying resort wear line for consignment. Within a year, Vaubula has a Facebook reach of 131k. Ramokosoi by Eferemo Campbell Eferemo is an emerging menswear designer with 1,000 Facebook followers. He has showcased in London, Fiji and is not set on showcasing his menswear collection in San Fransisco, USA Niurua Creative A husband-and-wife duo Sunia & Vere Tubuna, are a force to be reckoned with, operating on Facebook with 70k followers. Sunia started off with home economics in school and later moved to graphic design at the Fiji National University. He runs his own printery with his wife in Rewa. They also have a boutique at the new flea market in Suva and cater to dressing many corporate and private clients. Seini Kaufusi Seini Kaufusi is a Tongan legend! She runs the Lagakali Academy based in California and sends all her students to Tonga to compete in the annual Lagakali competition connected to the Heilala Festival. Seini won her first Lagakali competition at the age of 5 and has swept the nation with her graceful dance movements. Now a mother and entrepreneur, she teaches many Tongans across the globe. Her Facebook videos are viral with one video having 1.2 million views. The patron for her Academy is the Honorable Princess Angelica. Seini Kaufusi will be opening the show, showcasing traditional attire from Tonga. Jacque Whippy Jacqueline Whippy is the co-owner of the Shopaholic Boutique, Shop 3 Ground Floor, Banaba House, Pratt St, Suva. She has designed 3 collections so far in Fiji and this will be her first international collection. ESTABLISHED DESIGNERS An established designer is a designer with over 10+ years of experience in the industry. Afa Ah Loo Afa Ah Loo is a renowned name. Born and bred in Western Samoa, Afa Ah Loo has already been showcased twice in the American Reality TV Series Project Runway. Afa has had his work exhibited in the Buckingham Palace in London and has articles featured about his work in the British Vogue. Currently, Afa has been working with reality tv stars like the Real Jen Shah from Housewives of Salt Lake City and constructed an outfit for musical artist Tenelle, who was featured on Snoop Dog and Kelly Clarkson's show American Song Contest. Afa Ah Loo is now based in Utah. Aisea Konrote Aisea Konrote is an established name that has featured many shows. Quite the designer, Mr. Konrote has dressed many Fiji personalities. Aisea Konrote is based in Fiji. Masi Exhibition The Masi Exhibition comprises of traditional pieces from different parts of Fiji. The intention of this exhibition is to display the varying differences in cultural attire. OCEANIA DESIGNERS
Oceania Designers are creatives that have teams with over 3 + years of Industry Experience and reside outside of Fiji. Mereani Ernest Emerging kids' designer that has team members in Fiji and California working on producing a 12-piece collection for her show. Marissa Tampoya Marissa Tampoya has been designing for over a decade. She is a designer from the Philippines who now resides in California. Her latest photoshoot was shot in Colo-i-Suva with Fiji photographer Rob Rickman, model Mia Lomani and Rachel Halstead, makeup artist Jed Taylor and stylist Mario Basilio. The Bulaboy Club The Bulaboy Club was created by Dan Vaubula, the Bulaboy Club is Fiji's next streetwear attire. Within 2 years, Bulaboy has shipped worldwide, has 10,000 followers, and thousands of customers. Wandid Korimbo Wandid Korimbo is a Papua New Guinea designer that has been designing successfully for over 5 years. Educated at the International School Suva, Wandid has positioned herself as the next fashion designer to explode out of Papua New Guinea.
